Services & Consulting
We provide well-organized safety training, services and consulting which can significantly reduce the number of economic losses caused by injuries, deaths, and property damage. As you may be aware, the Canada Labour Code – Part II requires that federally regulated employers provide employee training concerning the safety and health aspects of their jobs. It also requires that the training be relevant to the specific conditions and overall environment in which the employee works. A supervisor who knows and understands the Canada Labour Code – Part II can ensure that workers follow the law and can identify ways to make the workplace safer. The various regulations under the Canada Labour Code – Part II contain detailed requirements about how to make the workplace safe. Employers and supervisors must have an overall safety program that includes specific safety information where applicable, covering topics such as:
- Safety compliance
- Safety inspections
- Violence prevention
- How to respond to accidents and emergencies
- An awareness of workplace hazards
- A knowledge of personal protective equipment
- A knowledge of safety practices
- A knowledge of the equipment and machinery they are involved with
- A knowledge of the safe use of the chemicals and hazardous materials they use
- The promotion of accident prevention and safety
- Employee involvement
As an experienced and qualified former Federal Health and Safety Inspector for what is now called Employment and Social Development Labour Canada (Labour Canada), I can assist employers to understand and implement the Canada Labour Code – Part II and provincial labour requirements. I work out of Thunder Bay, Ontario but will travel to provide courses in English across Canada.
